Foundation Fundraiser & Chamber Connect!

Foundation Fundraiser & Chamber Connect!

Thursday, March 20, 2025 (6:00 PM - 8:30 PM) (EDT)

Description

The Equality Chamber Foundation (ECF) is thrilled to invite you to an essential event that aims to foster change in our community! Please join us on March 20th, from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM, at M&T Bank (1350 Eye St NW, Washington, DC 20005), for a special fundraiser hosted by the Equality Chamber Foundation and the Equality Chamber of Commerce.

Our Focus: "A State of Emergency: Support Our Resilient LGBTQ+ Business Community." In these trying times, we must stand united. This gathering is to uplift one another and discuss how we can all champion Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion. While addressing the pressing challenges facing the LGBTQ+ business community and celebrating our collective strength, ECF is also seeking Sustaining Supporters that will commit to a monthly donation for at least one year. Your commitment is key as we work to empower our community. Together, we can pave the way for a future where everyone can thrive!

ECF is committed to platforming our fellow LGBTQ+ leaders of the DMV. So, we’re excited to announce our event speakers, Smyle's Executive Director, Erin Whelan, and a member of M&T Bank Pride. These incredible leaders will share their insights on what it means to be unified and resilient in our work, and we know their words will inspire us as we continue our vital mission for equality and support.

Register today, bring your friends, and let’s unite to make a strong statement in support of our LGBTQ+ business community! We can’t wait to see you!

Meet Our Featured Speaker

Erin Whelan (she/her) has served as SMYAL's Executive Director since September 2023 where her leadership continues to bolster the organization as a vital resource for LGBTQ+ youth in Washington, DC. Erin brings nearly 20 years of innovative experience in nonprofit management, team cultivation, program development and oversight, and community collaboration.

Before joining SMYAL, Erin served as the Director of the $11.5 million Housing and Homeless Services program at LifeWorks in Austin, Texas. In that role, she was instrumental in providing housing and services to thousands of youth annually. Her strategic vision and hands-on approach have strengthened programs designed to meet the diverse needs of LGBTQ+ youth, fostering an environment where young people can thrive.

Erin’s multifaceted life experiences—as a queer woman, licensed therapist, Taurus, and mother—enhance her approach to her work empowering queer and trans youth.
